It's Girlie....

Hi there, and welcome!

Had a good day, today........made a quick card, had a little play with some goodies I unearthed in my craft room....yep.....unearthed.......you read it rightly........it's like goin' on an archaeological dig when I'm lookin' for somethin' in there.....really need to have a tidy up.....would probably leave me much more time to actually craft, if I was a tidier ickle crafter....Ha!

And....I lost 1  and a half pounds at Fat Club!!  Yippeeeeeee........might be able to actually fit in the airplane seat when we set off for New York, after all.......lol!

Before I forget.....(as if I could..ha!)....please check in tomorrow to see what I did for my first DT card for stretchnbubbles.blogspot.com........I was soooooooo nervous about doin' it....but it was a whole lotta fun, believe me!

Here's the itty-bitty one I did today..........I have quite a few peeps that I need to thank........not goin' to mention any names....but could this be wingin' its way to yoohoo?.......

Used some Craftworks Cards lilac cardstock as the base.......it has a lovely texture to it........I followed a layout I saw in a magazine (I think the designer was Kathie Rodgers)....easy-peasy......

The lace is cut with a Martha Stewart punch...used a scrap of pale yellow patterend paper.......layered on a piece of Madame Royale DP.....love the glitter on it, but it's hard to see in my photo...sorry.......and used that gorjuss dark purple ribbon to "frame" the DP........

I cut some bits of pale lilac netting, and some toning papers, and rolled them into rosebuds.......sort of, lol..........diecut some leaves, and very arteeeeestically arranged 'em behind me roses.........

Added a sentiment label (from QVC), popped up on foamies.....and those sparkly gems, which started out clear, so I dabbed 'em with a pink Sharpie...............and Robert's your uncle!

I couldn't help it!!

Hi, and welcome!

I am apologisin', before I do anything else.....I just could not turn down making another male card.....I know....I know....but give me a chance to explain........

You know that I'm nursery leader in my ward, at Church....the children come to me when they are 18 months old, and stay until the January after they have their 3rd birthday.

One of my "ex" ickle peeps is Nathan....he and his family usually sit behind our family in Sacrament meeting.

Yesterday, I was sitting quietly (I can y'know), waitin' for the meeting to begin....a light touch on my shoulder....I turn and there's Nathan....."I'm 4 today!! Did ya make me a card?"

I've always made the children cards while they are with me in nursery....but there are so many of them....and with all my own tribe....I just don't keep it up when they move on to "big" Primary.......

I wanted to melt into the seat.....his Daddy told him not to be rude....but he wasn't being rude, to my mind....he'd always had a card from me for his birthday, (and Christmas, Easter, etc), so fully expected one yesterday!  Logical ickle peeps reasonin', if you ask me......

I had to tell him I'd forgotten it was his birthday, (I was about to receive the Sacrament, after all!), and promised that I would get one to him today......

So come on!.....how could I NOT make a male card?....eh?....eh?.....

Nathan is a rough 'n' tumble kinda boy....he actually lost the tip of one his fingers, in an accident, a couple of weeks ago, and they are waiting to see if it grafted back properly....poor mite.....

so here's his card.......

Had a ton of stuff to do today, including looking after a grandchild (Bevan), so this had to be quick an' simple.....where have I heard that before?...........

The DP is from K&Co.......orange dotty is from scrap mountain, lol....blue cardstock is textured Bazzil, done with a bit of sanding, and all inked in dark brown......

The sentiment is from Paulette (TLC)....just free-hand cut label, one white and slightly larger blue....couldn't be bothered pullin' out my Big Shot an' Nestie's.....I've really got to get a handle on my impatience!.......

All coloured with the ol' Promarkers, and popped up on foamies.......just wish I hadn't used that 100% Boy sticker....should have mounted it onto somethin', but that ol' impatience got the better of me....don't suppose Nathan will mind, lol!

Before I go.....was talking to my little brother (John) on the phone.....he's only 17 months younger than me, and we have always been close......and we got to talkin' about how our Dad used to ask us if we had learnt any new words today?

I was 12, so John would be that bit younger, and we were havin' our family tea (dinner to my friends elsewhere in the world).......it was near Christmas, and Mam always made us promise not to tell Dad what she had got him for his present........Dad hated not knowin', and would bribe us to tell him....if he offered me a Fry's Chocolate Cream, I was his!.....but, this time I'd not blabbed......but Dad knew!....and Mam went around the table, askin' each of us who had told......came to John's turn and he held up his hands and said, "Not me, I'm a violet!"

Dad almost choked on his mouthful of Frey Bentos Steak and Kidney Pie!!.......

Turned out........wait for it.........John's new word to tell Dad that day was..........INVIOLATE......bbwwwaaaaahhhh!!!

You can guess what his nickname became....for a very long time.......

Won't sully your ears with the new words he comes up with, nowadays...........heehee!

News...and pretties!

Hello, and welcome!

Blogger seems to be up to mischief because I can't see my Followers....and I've suddenly got 51....yippeeee!......but I can't flippin' see who you are!!

A warm welcome, anyway.....and you arived just at the right time, because I've got something to tell ya..........

I have been chosen as a Design Team member for the fantastic....the one-and-only....the stupendous........the fabulous....the.....oh, okay.....I'll get on with it........STRETCH N' BUBBLES !!!

I would like to thank my Mother, my sisters, my agent, my dog, my next-door-neighbour, for this fantastic OSCAR....oops....wrong speech........

But I really am soooo delighted.....and scared......and happy.......and scared......but excited, too!

Love the look of pins on cards, but some of 'em seem to cost a pretty penny....so I made my own..........

Started, as you can see, with Christmas colours....just 'cos I wanted to....but didn't actually have beads in the right colours, so I got out me Sharpies, and coloured away.......fun, fun, fun!........

Didn't realize I had so many beads, and couldn't even remember buying any of these....but there they were....all snuggled up in ickle plastic boxes........the pins I definitely knew I had....I quilt, remember....so these pretties all started out as plain sewing pins.......that's me all set for me Christmas cards, then, lol!

Last Man Standin'....for a while, anyway!

Hi, and welcome!

Oh my........certain Followers think they are sooooo funny....that's specifically YOU Petra.......and YOU Birdie......name an' shame 'em, that's what I say!!

There I was, tryin' to get back in touch with my feminine side....stop sniggerin' Birdie....I hear ya........and these two "friends" make .....er, comments......oh, okay, I know that's what they're supposed to do...........but can't a girl just have some "pink" time without the hassle.........sigh......!!!!

It's a good job the rest of the comments were so sweet.....so, thank you to all those of you who appreciate pretty an' feminineinineine.....you are of a much higher calibre of Follower....ha!

Some of you wanted to know how to make the pretty fabric flowers.....I found a tutorial on Folksy here.........and she shows it in really easy stages....enjoy!

As for today's card........he really is the Last Man Standin' for the time being...........

I made this one for a friend of ours, from our ward at Church, who is about to undergo surgery to remove a cancerous kidney.........and I just had to use this digi and sentiment from Stef, at Glitterbabe...........I just know it will make him laugh.....

Oooooh....how very wude!  Cracks me up.........!

I used K&Co papers..........not scraps (sorry Petra), actually cut into big pieces.....oh, that hurt, lol.........

Couldn't give him a card featuring a baldie, now could I?

Love the punch-line.....very Stef (she's truly wicked...in a nice way, lol).....and I'm hopin' it will put a smile on our friend's face, as he prepares for that all-important op!

I did something Girlie...for a change!

Hi, and welcome!

I'm in a rebellious mood....yep....gettin' really cheesed with all the masculine stuff, so I got out a bag of scraps (left-overs from quilting), and sat in my favourite chair (leather recliner with squishy cushions), in front of the telly, and watched a slushy film, (lots of lingerin' looks, flutterin' eyelashes, and smackin' kisses), and sewed some ickle fabric flowers......so therapeutic.....sigh.......and created a few girlie hairclips.........

Simple five petal shape.....sewed a ladybird button in the centre.......put a small felt circle on the back of the flower........sewed the felt circle to a plain clip.......

Giving some of these to our grandaughters, so wanted to present them nicely.......but, couple of our daughters say they could sell them to parents at school.....hmmmm....not sure 'bout that......

made the tags from free papers from a magazine..........I made lots of the flowers, all sorts of fabrics and buttons, but not finished enough to show.....may do when I get 'em finished......."when" being the operative word...ha!

Karate Kid card

Hello, and welcome!

I will be sooooo glad when I've got through all these flippin' boy cards.........but thank you all so much for the great comments you've been leavin' for me......it's not that I particularly like makin' boy cards, but rather that I don't have much choice!!

Maybe I really should have stopped at that one sweet little girl, back in 1970......but, with my luck, she'd have probably grown up to  produce all these boys all by her ickle self!!

Anybody want 2 sons, 10 grandsons, 3 sons-in-law, 2 brothers, 2 brothers-in-law, friends, neighbours, bin-men, man at the pizza place, etc., etc.,.........scrub the last three....I'm not really quite that sad, lol!

Okay....if I have to....might as well get it over with.........

This is for grandson, George.........will be 8 years old (another boy baptism card comin' up...groan) in August....which means I'm making one more male card, for a friend who is having surgery soon.....and then it's all pretty, pretty until September....yaaaay!!

By the time George has his birthday, he will have his yellow belt in Karate.........

This is George....as you can see, he's a blondie.......

Was in a bit of a hurry, so this was a quick and simple one.....aren't they all?...lol.........

Papers were scraps left over from another boy card, and the large star is a journaling spot from ?????....oh I'm sooooo bad at takin' notes as I work........the image was a freebie digi....isn't he cute?.......and of course he had to have a bright yellow belt!  Not much colourin' with this....told ya it was quick and simple......

Didn't have 3 yellow star brads, so used a silver one, in the middle, coloured....er......supposed to be yellow, but looks more like gold, ......I can live with it, if you can.....heehee......

The sentiment was from the same sheet that the large star came from, and I mounted it onto a scrap of brown Bazzil, as I did with the 3 small stars.....all up on foam strips.........easy-peasy......

And there you go.........

Only one more male card to go....for the time being, lol........

Scouting for boys!

Hello, and welcome!

Oh my goodness....will it never end....ANOTHER flippin' male card!  What can I say....sorry....lol.....but will try to fit in a girlie one somehow!   Don't have a girlie birthday due until September...sorry, Birdie (well, you did ask), when the twins turn 3 years old, (Freya and Adam), so that will be a double whammie, heehee.

It's been a very busy week....feel as if the birthday and anniversary celebrations have been one long party....but all culminated in a big family party, last night........boy, am I tired....must be me age, lol!

All our kids, their wives and husbands, and our 17 grandchildren ate a meal together.......a challenge by itself....29 of us around one very long table!....then on to the fun and games!!

I shouldn't have bothered with the hair-do and makeup........have you ever laughed so hard, and so long, that you had to literally hobble to the toilet with your ankles together?....sorry.......I AM 60!!!!......and your eye makeup runnin' down yer chin?

Try it.....I'll send my grandkids 'round....best experience in the world.....truly!

Some of the boys (aged 9 to 2) started off proceedings with turning on a screen (X Box?) that showed a realistic stage, with Michael Jackson look-a-likes dancin' and prancin', and the boys had mics to sing along, and had to copy the dance moves.......IT WAS HILARIOUS!!  Two year old Adam was a STAR!

Then, on to the Talent Show........two 7 years old grandaughters (Alexandra and Taylor) did a dance routine, complete with cartwheel spins, and sang a song I've never heard before, and half-way through were joined on the stage by 15 month old Yvie-Grace, and 2 year old Adam....both of whom were supposed to be in the audience....but, boy, could they move, HA!

Each grandchild either did a solo (8 year old George showed his set piece that he has to perform to get his yellow belt in Karate), or teamed up with a cousin/brother/sister.......and the fantastic evening of entertainment ended with 17 year old Hannah singing a solo in her beautiful soprano voice........sigh.

There are too many details to tell you everything....and you're probably gettin' bored.......but I had the most fantastic 60th birthday party that anybody has ever had.....PERFECTION!

But....before we get on to the card, please indulge me while I show you a photo of the most beautiful birthday cake that was made for me, COMPLETELY FROM SCRATCH, by my daughter, Gillian....it was her very first attempt, and I was gobsmacked when I saw it......

The icing was made with marshmallows, and the filing was chocolate....oh, she knows me so well........and you just know I kept that pretty ribbon.....THANK YOU GILLIAN!!

OK.........the card........made for upcoming son-in-law birthday.....Alex is married to eldest child, Joanne, and is a Scout leader..........

The scout image is a free colouring page off the net........

I was inspired by seeing a card in a magazine that had this cut-out portion, and a lacy border was put in the gap (will try that on a girlie card, lol), but I liked the way it worked for this masculine card, too.

The bottom border is a K&Co. ready made one, from a border set I've had since year dot.....just stuck it onto the bottom part of the card, then cut away around it.......

The little stamps are from a set that is also so old, the packaging has fallen apart, so don't know where I got it from...sorry.....stamped, coloured, faux stitched, cut out with punch....all on kraft card.......

Catch a ickle fishy, make a ickle wishy.......sorry.......Grandma mode slipped in, then.......

Froggy is wooden, coloured with PMs, and somehow smudged with red, so turned it into a tongue....cheeky......

Black button is from Paper Mania, and stuck a white "A" sticker on, and pegged it....don't know why....just did........

Front of card says "A Boy Scout is always prepared to....." and this is the punch-line......all, except BOY SCOUT done on the old 'puter.......
