If you want to get ahead, get a hat!

Hello, and welcome!

I've never understood that old saying........why would you need to get a hat if ya wanted to get ahead?!

Anyhoo......couldn't think of anything else to fit with my card today, so there ya go, lol!

I'm not really a shaped card kinda girlie, but when I saw the challenge over at simonsaysstampandshow.blogspot.com

"Hats", I remembered a template that I used, a coupla years ago, to make a card for my Mam.  I can't remember where I got the template, but I'm sure it was a freebie that I found on the web, and Mam really liked it, and I ended up making another one for her......and, while we were on holiday in Scotland with Mam and Dad, a few years ago, Mam cajoled me into making one for the lady who owned the holiday cottage we were staying in!

And, YES, I did have cardmaking stuff with me!

Here's the finished card.....Mam will probably end up with it, lol........

As you can see, I've kept it quite simple, and although in the past I've added loads of bright colours, and bling, I thought that this time I would go with an elegant look..........

The necklace is a length of silver ball chain with silver, clear, and pink beads from my li'l treasure chest of beads.....I luuuuurve beads, but don't use them often enough........the pink bead actually looks a bit like mother of pearl....very pretty!

The paper is from my scraps box and has a bit of a sheen on it, and I added a scrap of white netting, on the crown of the hat........I added a different silver ball chain along the rim.....a real pain to stick on!.......and used the black flower (more about that at the end of this post) and added more silver beads, with another pretty mother of pearly type one in the centre.......

I really like the quirkiness of this template, and it comes together quite quickly (always a bonus)....so if anybody recognizes it, please let me know so I can give credit to the creator.

Back to that flower.........

I was moochin' in a Matalan store, last week, and came across some girlie headbands, in the jewellry section, on sale for £1.00........so bought four of 'em........two black and two cream........so now have beautiful cheap flowers to use on my cards......BARGAIN!

P.S.............41 years ago today, I gave birth to my beautiful, brown-eyed baby girl......HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOANNE!!!

P.P.S..........We had been married for 9 months and 3 days, and I was still only 18 years old......a mere child, lol........but wouldn't change a thing!
