Another "Just in case".

Hi there, and welcome!

Have you had a good day?  I've had a lovely one........Ken is away with work, until Monday night, and the rest of the family had plans for today, so I've had most of the day to myself.  Babysat 6 months old Bevan for a couple of hours, so that Jonathan and Tanys could spend a little time together..........Bevan is such a sweetie, (biased Grandma mode happenin' here, sorry) and is a delight to spend time with.

Had a bit of a rummage in my craft room, and was happy to see that my little stock of "just in case" cards is buildin' nicely.....but I didn't have any baby cards....or wedding cards......or anniversary.....or masculine........soooooooo........

I'm thinkin' baby boy, but have left room to add a sentiment, when needed.......
I'm still using up the scraps from my Nitwits papers, which were Christmas ones btw, but I don't think this stripey background piece looks particularly seasonal, lol.......the card base is kraft (yummy), and I backed the stripey onto pale blue card , and added brown ribbon with blue spots....seems a while since I stitched, so thought the brown thread added a bit of texture....everything is inked with Mementoes Rich Cocoa ink.....

I used a cute sticker as the focal image......not used a sticker for ages, but have tons of 'em, so you might be seeing more, lol.....the blue spots were on the same sticker sheet, and I used brown striped, and blue striped baker's twine to wrap around the Nestie.......

and tied more of the spotty ribbon in a quick knot..........

the flutterbies are from the same sticker sheet......

quick and simple, but can now add to my little stock.......never know when ya might need a baby boy card........I'm LDS, remember........and there's always somebody havin' a baby, lol!

Just a quick Thank You to all those of you who have been leavin' such lovely comments.......please know that I read each and every one, and get a real kick out of it.....well, I've got to take me pleasures where I can, these days, lol!
Even if you don't leave a comment, I'm soooo glad you take the time to visit.......take care, my lovely friends!

Is that a snowflake I spy?

Hello, and welcome!

I am definitely melting.....how can it possibly be 24 degrees Celsius in the middle of flippin' April?  April in England is supposed to be wet......where d'ya think the term "April showers" came from, eh?.........but, no........wall to wall flippin' sunshine, and more bare flesh on show than is decent.....uugghh! (Not mine, by the way, lol....now that would be indecent!)

How am I supposed to cope - tell me that!.......I've got pale skin, and millions of freckles, and I've never had anything even loosely resembling a tan (and that's the way I like it, thank you), but I only have to open the curtains, in the mornings, to be bombarded by sunbeams.....and all that heat!.......as I said.....I'm meltin'! (Isn't that what happened to the wicked witch in the W of O?)

Anyway.......to take my mind off all this bright, heated stuff, I thought I would have a go at Janet's challenge - Pearls & Swirls - over at pinkgemchallengeblog.blogspot.com

I've been wanting to use this beautiful clear stamp from Janet's collection.....and the thought of makin' a snowy card was very appealing, for all the above reasons, lol!

I used a sketch that I found at allsortschallenge.blogspot.com..........LOVE sketches!

I used bits of Nitwits papers that I had left over from last year, and the doily was from a lady called Helena, who I found at http://www.poppyscabin.co.uk......she/ has some really pretty doilies of all shapes and sizes, and the prices are very reasonable....
This little girlie was a pleasure to colour (PMs of course), and I added some Glamour Puss....er, sorry......Glamour Dust, lol.....and some pretty pearls.....pearls are my birthstone, and a personal fave.....not hintin' or anything, but I do have a big birthday comin' up, lol......
I took Janet's advice, and stamped using Rich Cocoa ink, instead of my usual black, and I love the result....thanks, Janet!

The cute ticket is another of Janet's, over at Pink Gems, and you can bet I'll be inkin' this one up, a lot, in the coming months.....roll on Christmas!  I added a little scrap of folded brown gingham ribbon on this, and the heart in the other corner........oh, and sprinkled more Glamour.......

I adore these snowflakes (Shapeabilities)....just realized that I also got these from Janet's.....she's not payin' me commission, honestly, lol.......more Glamour over the touch of colouring, and more pearlies........

The paper heart was cut from those Nitwits papers, and a touch of sparkle.....well, it is Christmas, heehee.......

And a close-up of one of the snowflakes.....wish it was real, sigh..........

Really enjoyed making this one.....should have had "White Christmas" playin' in the background.....maybe tomorrow, heehee!

Is it Easter yet?

Hello, and welcome!

Everybody in the Secret Pals forum on Paper Craft Planet seems to be obsessed with all things chocolate, and I'm really cravin' some......milk, dark, white, flavoured.....anything will do.....but a HUGE Easter egg would be very welcome, right now!
Not even a choc chip cookie in the house....and it's Sunday, and we don't spend money on Sunday.....so I'm havin' serious withdrawals, here..........Boy!....sound like an addict, but I actually probably only have chocolate maybe once a week......unless I can snag a bite of something the grandkids are scoffin', lol!

It's Hannah's actual birthday***HAPPY BIRTHDAY SPANNER***...and we always get the family together, on a birthday, for cake and hugs.....and I'm hopin' the cake will have some element of CHOCOLATE about it, lol!!!

On to my latest  card, then.................

There are a lot of Easter challenges in blogland, so I made this with some challenges in mind.......
the DP is from a free pack that came with my magazine (I really like this pack, and you'll probably see it again)....and I cut three strips and mounted them onto a pale green textured base card from Craftwork Cards.......cut a pice of orange Bazzil with my Martha Stewart lacy punch, and added a strip of the same paper I used on the egg, then added a strip of pink polka dot ribbon.....did a bit of faux stitchin'.......

I love this cute stamp!  I won it at Paper Pretties and think it is funny and cute.....has to be a winner then, lol.......
I paper-pieced the eggshell.....not done that for a while, and had forgotten how much I like it!  Little chuck is coloured with PMs........

I have huge amounts of these Prima flowers and they seemed just right for a bright and breezy Easter card....I like the look of the Card Candi, in the centres, too.........

Look at that ickle feathery bum! (bottom for those of you not British, lol)

`Found these little buttons in my stash.....job done!

Love the comments you leave........hope you like enough to leave one, lol!

New handbag, anyone?

Hello, and welcome!

How has your day been?  I sometimes wish we could see each other through the computer, and I could gauge what kinda mood you're in, but.....when I think some more....maybe that wouldn't be a nice experience for either of us, lol!

Had some time to play.........and here's the result :D.........

Just felt in the mood for a handbag........didn't have a particular recipient (oo, big words) in mind, so will probs be one of those "just in case" cards, lol...........

Had a try at making my own flowers.....never learn, do I?......and used really small scraps that almost went into the bin.......I did a doodle of a flower, then did a smaller one....cut 'em out and used 'em as templates to cut more........scrunched them up......used a black glaze pen to make dots on the pink ones, and lightly inked the white ones with pink ink.........put Card Candi in the centres.....

Here I am with the lace again, and this pretty white is even prettier with the pearls and sequins (already on there...I'm not that clever).....

Not sure I should have taken a close-up of the flowers.........

and I was hoping this close-up would let ya see the lovely texture on the black lace.....

and there you have it.....I really like this colour combo....how 'bout you?

Hannah-Spanner's Card

Hi, and welcome!

Not had time to do much crafting, this week, but knew that I definitely had to get a birthday card made for my Hannah....she's our eldest grandchild, and will turn 17 on Sunday.....I know!....unbelievable that I could actually have a grandchild THAT old.......bwwwaaahhhh!

It certainly doesn't seem 17 years since my own first-born was giving life to her first-born.........I was over-joyed to be at the birth, and was simply awe-struck, as I watched that dark-eyed little beauty come into the world.....she was, and is, amazing.
Joanne and Alex named their first child Hannah Marie, (Joanne is Joanne Marie)......but she soon became Hannah-Spanner............well, my youngest (Jonathan) only turned 6 years old a few days before Hannah was born, so they've been more like brother and sister than uncle and niece......lol!

Hannah is at college, workin' away at what she needs to do to become a music producer........she has a Saturday job at a local radio station, and is doin' really well.
She's a talented pianist, sings in a choir, and is very active in our churchs' Young  Women's Programme.....like I said, folks....she's AMAZIN'!!!
Biased Grandma?.....Moi?............Yep.

Soooooo................

Did I mention that Hannah also plays the guitar.....not braggin'....just sayin', lol.......so this cutie was just the job!

I'm still at the "workin' on it" stage for my hand-made flowers, so these rose centres do look a bit ropey on the Prima blooms, lol......

As soon as I saw this rockin' girlie, I knew I'd use her for Hannah's card....she was a freebie from the very talented Sara, over at thesherlockshome.blogspot.com.............thank you, Sara!
Hannah has this length and colour hair, too!

I love lace, in all colours and styles........it always seems to soften whatever you use it on.........

.....and this sentiment says exactly how I feel about Hannah........of course, everything is coloured with Promarkers.......

I used my Martha Stewart border punch on the front edge of the card stock, then did the same on the backing paper.....layered two scraps of DP onto white card, and topped with a pretty paper doily.....simples!

Let me know whatcha think.....I luuuuurve your comments, lol.....

Here she is.....again!

Hello, and welcome!

The beautiful spring weather is still with us.......but not for lo-ong!  Supposed to be much cooler, tomorrow, and for the rest of the week, but this IS England, and we can get all four seasons in one day, lol!

Yesterday, I popped round to spend a little time at my friend, Anne's, birthday party.....it was one of those big number ones that you can't ignore :D....but I don't think she was at all bothered, because her son, daughter-in-law, and1 year old grandaughter were here, visiting from the States!
Anne is English, married to an American, but her three grown children now live in the States, so you can imagine what a fabulous reunion they've been havin', :D.
And, to make it even more special, Anne's little grandaughter turned 1 year old, a couple of days ago, so yesterday's cdelebration was for them both.....bouncy castles, cupcakes, balloons, birthday cakes....3 of 'em!......and a great time was had by all......includin' me and most of my kids and grandkids....woohooo!

Sooooo........remember the little tag from yesterday's post?
Here it is....again.....transformed into a birthday card for little Paige.........

I seem to be making mostly clean and simple cards, lately....or maybe it's because I was in a hurry to get it done before goin' to the party, lol!

I used a soft pink pearlised base card, and layered the tag onto a piece of green cardstock, which I'd used my pinking scissors on........inked up the edges of the green cardstock, then added a flower diecut with a clear pebble in the middle.....had to first back the pebble with a tiny bit of brown card, because the number 1 wasn't showin' up too well if I left it clear.......

I ran some pink grosgrain ribbon around the green card, and tied a small piece of cream satin ribbon into a knot....added pink peel-off letters to spell the name (haven't used peel-offs for yonks!).......and she was complete!
Simple!!

Might get a bit more time to create, tomorrow.....but who knows? Heehee!

Hooray for tags!

Hi, and welcome!

What a beautiful spring day we've been having.....hope it's been as nice where you are!

When I was a little girl.....just a few years ago........I remember having to go to the headmistress's office, so that she could listen to me read from a story book, (wasn't just me....we all had to take a turn) and, as I was a very curious l'il 'un, my eyes used to be drawn to a small filing cabinet that stood in the corner.
Sitting on top of that cabinet was a box of TAGS!

I didn't know that that was what they were called, at the time........but that was where my love affair with tags got started.
When I was older, and started my first job.....I was a Telex Operator in a motor factor's office......I could hardly contain my excitement when I discovered that I had a whole stationery cupboard to myself!  There, in all their brown, cream, yellow, and white splendour, were boxes and boxes of bee-oo-ti-fool tags.....and they had those paper holey thingies, and string.........and, be still my beatin' heart!......brown, green, and blue manila folders!!!!

Oh, I loved that job!
When I bought my Big Shot, many moons ago, guess what was the first die I bought?
Well, actually, it was a daisy, lol............but my second, third and fourth, were TAGS!!

These little pieces of card are such versatile, tiny (or not so tiny) works of art, and I don't use them nearly as often as I should.....they give me such a buzz when I use 'em.........sad, I know, lol!

So, here's my effort to enter into Helen's monthly tag challenge, over at acraftykindoftruffle.blogspot.com

April's theme is New Baby........

I had this pretty little pink-dotted frame, so went with a baby girl tag........

Doesn't she have the sweetest l'il face?
All coloured with Promarkers.....still don't have my colouring the way I would like, but I'm always in too much of  a hurry to take the proper time to practice!

The cute pinky gems are from my stash......I have loads of stuff like this, but they always seem to fill a yawning gap so nicely,  lol.......

I don't have very many of these tiny mulberry flowers left, but should get more because I think they are so delicate-lookin'.......

A bit of pink ric-rac (I hated ric-rac, at school....always had to sew some on my Domestic Science apron, every flippin' new term!)...and some cream satin ribbon, held in place by a cream brad......and,  voila!

I'm already thinkin' that I can use this as the focal point of a card for my friend's baby grandaughter........mmmmm.......I'm  off to play!

Get well soon, Harrison!

Hi, and a warm welcome!

If I make lots of typos, it's because I'm tuckered out, lol...........and that's because our 10 year old grandson, Harrison, was taken into hospital, suddenly, night before last, with acute appendicitis.....Ken and I have had 7 year old William, 4 year old Finlay, and little Yvie-Grace, who turned a year old two days ago, so their Mummy and Daddy could stay with Harrison, at the hospital.
He's been so brave!  The surgeon said it was a very nasty, grotty, pus-filled appendix, and he didn't know how Harry had put up with the pain......but the poor little thing wasn't in any pain, until it flared suddenly, two nights ago!

Well, hopefully he'll be home by tomorrow, and will be pampered back to full health........and Grandma can sleep all weekend, lol!

Get well  soon, Harry!
(Sorry 'bout the red-eye, lol.)

I'm still trying to get a few "just in case" cards made, and put to one side......just in case..........and made this one a few days ago.....very quickly, because it's another clean and simple one..........

Apart from the base card and the ribbon, everything came from a freebie kit, included in a craft magazine..........

I haven't done any decoupage for yonks, so this made a nice change.....it's also not the "fiddly" kind of decoupage, and had only three simple layers, so did come together very quickly........all I did was change the colour of the poodle, which was originally white, but the only person I know who has a poodle actually has a black one........AND just for a change, lol, I DIDN'T use my Promarkers, lol, and used plain old colouring pencils......felt really strange, haha!

I used the pencils on the edges of the little rose, too, because it looked a bit "flat" without shooshin' it up a bit.......

.........did the same for the corner flourish.........around the edges of the two DPs.........and called it done!

One for my boy!

Hi there, and welcome!

How do you feel about card challenges?  When I first discovered craft blogs, I was amazed that people would actually spend time thinking up challenges, and even more amazed that crafters would actually create something, and enter it into a challenge........I thought that it would almost crush any original creativity that a crafter might have..........how wrong could I have been?!

I entered my first challenge on 23rd December, last year, with a birthday card I made for one of my sons-in-law.....it was actually only the second card that I had ever posted, having started my blog in October....it didn't win anything, but I remember the excitement as I waited for the winner to be posted........and I still feel  that same excitement....yep....every time, lol.

But, winning a prize, lovely as that is, is only incidental to what I now view as part of my creative process........I soon discovered that there are many more benefits to entering challenges that I wouldn't have thought of, at the outset.
For instance, I've found that I love sketch challenges!  It sometimes almost feels like cheatin', but I admit to being a bit of a ditherer........and so much time is now saved if I have a cute sketch to follow, either "as is", or.....if I'm feelin' up to it......swizzin' it around to better suit what I have in mind....so many possibilities open up when a sketch is laid out on my desk!

And what about colour challenges?  I now know exactly what my favourite colour combos are, but I've also discovered that colours I've maybe shied away from, in the past, can actually be very pleasing to the eye, when they are put together with fabby combinations........which, as another added bonus, has also helped when putting fabrics together for my quilts!!!  How good is that?

As for challenges that start with a particular theme.....well, the sky is the limit!
So many colours, themes, styles, layouts.......and the result?
The result is that I have a good idea, in advance, of what cards I plan to make next....which, in turn, means that I usually am  on time with all the different kinds of celebration cards that I need........and with my huge family, and lots of lovely friends, there is not a week goes by that I don't need to put together a card of some sort.....sooooooooooo.......
Bring on the challenges!

Which brings me to this one...........a birthday card for our youngest, Jonathan, who will turn 23 on 12th April..........

Of course, being a bloke, he dislikes "fussy" cards, so this is really clean and simple........two pieces of docrafts paper, layered on top of a third one, then a thin strip of toning blue paper, with faux stitching..........

The image is coloured with....yep....Promarkers, and more faux stitches.  The circles were hand-cut  so might look a tad wonky, lol......

Black Card Candi.......Jonathan will probably think even these are "fussy" :D..........

but he'll like the grunged "Dude", 'cos he's........well, a dude, lol.......
And why d'ya think I chose this footie image?
Heres a coupla clues.......born and raised in Manchester.........favourite colour red............loves to bawl at the telly when a certain game is being played...........

"Come on, yooooo Re-eds!"

Did I hear Manchester United?

April showers....bring on the flowers!

Hello, my lovely friends, and welcome!

April showers indeed........it's been throwing down here, and windy with it!

I absolutely love using digi stamps, and can't believe how many I've collected....you name...I've got it, lol!

This little beauty was from the very talented Paulette, over at TLC (link in the sidebar), and it is soooo cute, and was begging to be coloured up...heehee....and will do as one of my "just-in-case" cards............I've  had the image for yonks, and was browsing through my digis and came across her......

Here she is........

The papers are from an old K&Co. kit, except for the pearlised pink, which was from my scrap box.......

I actually toyed with the idea of using watercolour pencils, but finally opted for my ol' Promarkers (quicker, lol)........I used a Sakura white glaze pen to make the dots on the l'il raincoat (I'm sure I had one like that when I was a tiny girlie), and I cut out the image with my Deckled-Edge Nestie, and inked around the edge, which I also did with all the layered papers........

The pretty flowers, and buttons, are from Papermania's Capsule collection........did a bit of paper-prickin' around the pink pearly papers......

........and coloured-up this cute ticket........
and there she is!

Sorry to be in a bit of a rush with this one, but please do ya stuff, and let me know whatcha think.......

This is SOOOOO me!

Hi and welcome!

In a bit of a rush here......got to go babysit while Gillian and Ian go for a meal with Big Sis, Joanne, to celebrate Joanne's 41st birthday, yesterday!
I can't possibly be old enough to have a 41 year old!.........sheeeeeesh.....how did that happen?.....don't tell me.....too much info, lol!

The sentiment I used for today's card fits me like a glove! Actually, probably better than a glove, 'cos I have small hands, and nearly always have to wear a child's size, ha!
Wonderful Nikki, over at Melonheadz (look in my sidebar for link) made this digi, and she hit the nail squarely on the head.......this is exactly me...............

I hope you can read the great message........I have three addiction: family; PepsiMax; chocolate........and it depends on how much day is going as to which order they come in at!.........

Nikki's original sentiment said "Pepsi" but I added the "Max", 'cos I like that better, lol................

I am STILL struggling to lose all this extra weight....but a little of what ya fancy does ya good, doesn't it?......so, PepsiMax and chocolate (preferably Dairy Milk, but anything will do!) are what get me through the day...........and, er,....family...........

I kept it simple (seem to do that a lot, ha!), and used more scraps, which I hand-sewed (surprise!....not), and backed with tan coloured cardstock (more scraps).......layered some stitched brown ribbon onto blue ribbon.....stuck on a coupla cute flowers (from the metre I bought on a roll, at Hobbycraft).....and there we have it!
