Hello, and welcome!
What kind of day have you been having? Mine has been fairly quiet.......just the way I like it, ha........and I've got quite a few jobs done, around the house, including some ironing....yawn......but just sat down with me ikkle netbook on me knee and have just spotted a flippin' cobweb dangling from the corner of the ceiling.....wonder how long that's been there, then?
Oh well, it can dangle for a bit longer....haaaa!
My SIL #2 (Ian) came home from his two-week secondment to India, yesterday and my goodness, were his family glad to see him.....and he them!
He brought 2 year old Yvie-Grace a Barbie doll, dressed in a beautiful sari.....she loves it!
Ian kept in touch with Gillian and the kids by Skypeing, and on Facebook, so I know a little of what he got up to whilst over there, but I'm sure there's a whole lot more he can tell.
I do know about a visit to an orphanage, though.
It seems that a visit was arranged and Ian was overwhelmed by the sight of all these young children, many of whom were there because they had deformities, scars and burns.
Ian is 6 feet 8 inches tall, so the children thought he was truly a giant, come to visit...haaaa!
He asked the staff what he could do for the children, whilst he was there, and was told that they would love to be sung to. Ian and Gillian have four children, so he was well up on his nursery rhymes, and spent the rest of his visit with a crowd of clamouring children thrusting out their hands as he played "Round and round the garden" on their palms.....sheer delight!
I know that this visit brought this gentle giant to tears.....and many of them.
Makes me even more aware of the grace of my Heavenly Father and Saviour in my life.
I had a little time to play......woohoo....and I wanted to try out some new Hunkydory goodies that have been sittin' on my desk....don't know how I've resisted for so long...haaaa!
I got some toppers and sentiments, along with foiled cardstock, and they came with some suggested card layouts which were actually rubbish, so I did my own thing.........oh, I'm soooo creative........heehee.....
I pulled out some of my red mirri card and made a square 6"x6" card base........then I cut down some of the foiled card that came with the kit and layered onto the base........
Love this ikkle topper! I added some red mirri and left a slightly wider margin on one side......
I added a piece of green ribbon and a cardstock snowflake and called it done!
This is Christmas card #19 in my stash.....yaaaay!
Hugs,
Anne-Marie x

ReplyDeleteFabulous card!! I love the gold-iness!! I know that's not a word, but I just made it up! I really like the gold!! :)
Well Pickles, girl, you are going to have your Christmas all done before I even get properly started. Whoohoo, on second thought you just keep going, and I'll just commission you to do up my cards for me -- if only! This is a lovely card. That little topper is darling, and a rather home-spun contract to all the glitz and gold. I like it! I also like Debbie's new word "gold-iness." That's what this card is -- pure gold-iness!
ReplyDeleteWow!! super cute card! love everything about it!
ReplyDeletethanks for joining us this week at CCC.

Love the topper on the card. Doesn't Santa have such a jolly face.
ReplyDelete19 cards down but how many more to do? Will make a start once school starts back and I have some down time.
Your daughter must be delighted to have hubby home and so much more secure again. {hugs}

Lovely Anne-Marie. Thank you for joining us at Platypus Creek Digitals.
ReplyDeleteSuch a touching story about your SIL's visit! Just shows that we don't have to be wealthy to make a difference in someone's life!
ReplyDeleteYour card is fantastic! Love all of the shiny foil and that Santa is too cute! Glad you finally decided to play with those goodies! Can't have them collection dust!
Hi Anne-Marie, such a lovely Christmas card - great touch of sparkle with the mirri card.
ReplyDeleteJust had a little while catching up on your happenings - best of luck with the dieting. I'd said that I needed to loose weight for my 40 (didn't want to be fat and 40) ummm I turned 41 end of July and I've still not lost the weight!! Am terrible and have no will-power.
Such a touching story about your S-i-L, he sounds like a real gentle giant. You'd have to have a heart of stone to not be touched with scenes as you've described - I can't watch TV now about those sort of stories as I sob my heart out.
There I've waffled on for ages now - so will push off again!
Hope you have a great weekend.
Sarah
