Card for Mam

Hello, and welcome!

Why is it so hard to get back to your usual routine when you get back from a break?
I've been shufflin' around, doin' a bit of this and a bit of that, but not really getting much done....know what I mean?
Not that I haven't got a great many things to do, but I just don't seem to have the energy to really get down to anything.....oh, my........hope it passes quickly.....stuff is pilin' up!

It's my Mam's birthday tomorrow........she'll be 82 years old.  She's petite and pretty, and has a figure I can only envy.  I'm so proud of the way she's got on with her life, since losing my Dad.  He was the love of her life....she had never had a boyfriend before him, and it was love at first sight for her.
They met in a dance hall.....her older sisters had taken her, and she was quickly approached by several young men, all wanting to partner her in a dance....they'd seen how she could jitter-bug!
She recalls how the young man who was to become my father approached her..........She was adjusting the strap on her shoe, and saw two brown suede shoes stop in front of her.....looked up, and saw this handsome 23 year old with black, slightly wavy hair, and green eyes.  She was 19 years old, and fell in love on the spot!
He asked her to dance, and she accepted, but after they'd danced, she has always said that she went back to her sisters, and told them she could barely understand a word he said (he was from near Glasgow, Scotland, and she was a Lancashire lass), and it was really hard to dance with him because his shoes had thick crepe soles!
She was definitely smitten, and so was he, because he asked if she would be back, next week, and could he have all her dances......go Dad!
This is Mam, now......

This was taken at a party.....she still loves to dance, in spite of a hip and knee replacement.....go Mam!

Mam loves cartoons........argues with greatgrandkiddles about what to watch on the Disney channel....haaaa!......and loves to get cards with bears, fairies, etc........so I think she'll love this one.......

She's a glitter type of girlie, too.......if it sparkles. she's happy.........

Just to remind her it's ANOTHER birthday......she'll no doubt tell me I'm not too old for a clip round the ear....haaaa!

The Forever Friends ickle bear is decoupaged, and I added the red cherry gem to the cake.....cake.....mmmmm!

Sparkle AND cupcake.....she'll be happy 'bout that, too..........

Sorry to go on about her, but she means the world to me, and I'm very proud of her, so just wanted to share. :)
Card Crafter's Challenge time, tomorrow, so drop by to join the fun!
Hugs,

  1. Aw it's so clear your mam means the world to you! Can't believe she'll be 82 though! She looks lots younger in that photo. It's fantastic she's still dancing. I think she'll love the sparkly card, made with lots of love and glitter!
