Hello, and welcome!
Thunder and lightening.....rain and sunshine......just another summer's day in Merry Old England....ha!
Haven't set foot outside the house.....er, well......just to check on Babbit (my silver miniature rabbit, named by grandson Henry when he was 2!) who lives in her spacious wooden cottage, under the pear tree in our back garden.....she was fine, by the way....lol!
Soon ran back to my cozy craft room, and made a couple of cards........one was my DT card for Wednesday, so you'll have to wait for that one......ha!
My baby sister is married to her sweetheart, Kevin, and it will be Kevin's birthday on 3rd September....it also happens to be their son, Rhys's 12th birthday........they tried to have a baby for 15 years before they were finally blessed with Rhys.........although, when he is peltin' my back fence with over-ripe pears and sawdust (pinched from Babbit's cottage), a blessing is not what I call him!
He takes great delight in calling me Auntie in front of my grandkids......the little ones just can't get their heads around the fact that he is not their cousin, but is, in fact their Mummy or Daddy's cousin.....complicated, I know....ha!
It might help ya to figure it out if I tell you that Roseanne (baby sister) is 14 years younger than me, and that I had my first child while I was still only 18, and she had Rhys when she was 34.......in fact, she's exactly 5 years older than my first baby (Joanne)....so they are more like sisters, than aunt and niece........er.....maybe that's complicated it even more.........haaaaaa!
Onto Kevin's card............he's like all the other men in my family.....no frills, no fuss....so that's what he gets...........
Kevin has a form of Muscular Dystrophy, and has lost all movement, except for two fingers and a thumb, which he uses to propel his electronic wheelchair....that thing is a marvel!......and one of his few remaining pleasures is good food.......hence the digi image, which is a freebie from Paulette at Create with TLC.........very little colouring on this, but used my trusty Promarkers to do the little bit that is there......the DPs are scraps........
Now, he looks the kinda chef who would make really good yummies, don't ya think?...........I've got a pot like that...lol!
I cut the sentiment from a page of sentiments in an old Hot Off the Press paper pack, that I've thrown in my scraps pile.....there's not much left of it.......shame, 'cos I loved it........must get more from HOTP. I think the sentiment sums up Kevin exactly....lol.
Thanks for leaving comments....I read each and every one!!

Love your card. It is a great job and just perfect for men who don't like frills. I hope both their birthdays are wonderful. We have the same kind of family. My oldest grand-daughter is only a couple of years younger than my youngest daughter and they are the best of friends. It is very hard for them to wrap there heads around the fact that Anya is an aunt.
ReplyDeleteVery nice birthday card.
