Vintage Flair!

Hello, and welcome!

I've spent the day making a list of all the things that need to be put right in our little house.......it's a long list ;(

We really need to install new windows.....and I do mean NEED.......because we have wooden frames and they are way past their best.....a lick of paint just won't do it, any more.....so, new windows it is.
We also need a new boiler......ours is serviced every year, but it was old when we moved in, almost 13 years ago, and I think it deserves a happy retirement after all this time, lol.
Well, I can at least tick the boiler off the list.....we're having the new one installed on Monday...woohoo!

The list includes new curtains for the living room; new blinds for all rooms; new living room carpet.....it does go on a lot further, but these are at the top......oh, and we have to finish paying the mortgage before the Hubster retires in 3 years.......no pressure then :D

Oh, well......on to a more pleasant topic!

Time for a lovely challenge at Card Crafter's Circle........

This week we invite you to create cards on the theme of:

VINTAGE FLAIR!
(Show us your vintage colours, images, and embellishments!)

Our Sponsor this week is Floppy Latte Digital Designs, and they are offering our challenge winner a $6 certificate to shop at the Floppy Latte store ....

Floppy Lattes Digital Designs ::All Digital All The Time

I love the look of vintage creations, but I am definitely out of my comfort zone when it comes to trying to create something with this theme........but, I gave it a whirl, and here's the result........I went with a male card......

The image is called Ship #5 and I really like it......I used black card as the base for this masculine card, and added a layer of tan-coloured music sheet paper (it's actually wrapping paper from IKEA), which I edged with a rub of brown chalk.  The next layer is brown corrugated card which I rubbed over with a bit of white Gesso.......

I used some craft tape (from the Gorjus range) and extended it over the edge of the brown layer, then topped a wooden heart with a stamped birthday sentiment......a twist of thick twine was popped behind.......

I like buttons on masculine cards.....this one is threaded and tied with red button twine.......

The lovely image is on a Spellbinder's label,  with a black "shadow" behind it.......

Another piece of the music paper, and a label to write a message were stuck inside.....all done!

Of course, our clever Design Team have come up with some beautiful inspiration for you....and they are all very feminine Vintage creations, so are truly delightful.....pop over to see 'em....you'll love them all!

Thanks for dropping in on me.....I love to read your comments!

hugs,
Anne-Marie x

  2. I quite like the masculine version of vintage you've achieved! Love the gesso rubbed cardboard layer.

I made a huge list this morning too....it seems that slightly warmer weather reminds me of all the chores that need done.

  3. WOW you have quite a ToDo List there but I'm sure it will all come together sooner or later! Best of luck with it!
Now on to this fabulous masculine creation! It's always so nice to get inspiration on masculine cards because they seem to be the most difficult! This is awesome! Thanks so much for joining us at The Sisterhood ‘BIRTHDAY’ challenge and please come back again soon!

I love the image. I musical wrapping paper looks fabulus and the brown corrugated card works so well. I don't think I have ever made a 'male' vintage card before so you have given me lots of inspiration.
I hope you have a fabulous weekend and good luck with your to do list!

  7. Before I comment on that FABULOUS card, let me say I feel your pain in regards to the "to do" list. We did new windows and a new heating/air conditioning system last year. Our next project is a new roof (sadly for our banking account) which will probably be this spring (sigh). Oh well, on to nicer thoughts -- which is exactly where your card takes me. It is a fantastic male card. Male cards are more difficult (in my opinion), but vintage ones -- a challenge you met to perfection, my dear! Would not have known how to even begin to try for a vintage male look, but you aced it straight away! I'm making note of this posting for future reference when next I need a male card.

  11. Hi Anne-Marie, I'm so sorry I've been absent from your blog for like ages!! I'm getting more time back now I've left a couple of DTs - so, unfortunately for you?!, I'll be back more often.

And I've really missed your happy chat and gorgeous cards - this is a perfect masculine card, by the way. Fab image and love all the little details.

I know just what you mean about a list as long as your arm for the house - we're going to be starting on the last few big jobs soon (as soon as planning permission comes through). Then it's the garden, then it's re-decorating, then it'll be something else! I don't think it ever stops!!!!

    See you soon,
    Sarah
